5 Ways to Deepen Your Relationship with God
Maybe you feel far from God right now. Or maybe things feel “fine,” but deep down, you want your relationship with Him to be great.
Wherever you're starting from, the idea of drawing closer to God can feel overwhelming.
Where do we even begin?
We often hear the same advice:
Read your Bible more.
Pray more.
Go to church more.
All good things. But sometimes, they can start to feel like a checklist. Or they leave us wondering: What does that actually look like in real life?
So today, we want to share five practical, simple ways to deepen your relationship with God.
They’re not about striving or performing, but about opening yourself to experience His presence.
But first, remember that sometimes the habit comes before the heart.
Sometimes you have to show up before you feel it. And that’s okay.
Talk to God Like You Would a Friend
"The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth." Psalm 145:18
You don’t need a perfect script. Start talking to God throughout your day, while you're driving, folding laundry, or walking the dog.
Tell Him what you’re feeling. Ask questions. Say thank you.
Prayer doesn’t have to be fancy to be powerful.
The more real you are with God, the more room you give Him to be real with you.
Read a Little Less and Reflect a Little More
“Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Instead of trying to power through five chapters of the Bible, try reading one verse and sitting with it.
Ask, what does this show me about who God is? Write it down. Meditate on it throughout your day.
Our relationship with God grows when we slow down and let the truth sink in.
Put Scripture Where You Can See It
“Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.” Colossians 3:2
Maybe you’ve tried reading your Bible daily, but life gets busy and distractions take over. Or maybe you want to soak in God’s truth more, but you’re not sure how to keep it in your heart throughout the day.
Try placing Scripture in spots you see often, like your mirror, your car, or around the house. A simple sticky note can become a quiet nudge to turn your thoughts toward God throughout the day.
This isn’t about adding pressure to memorize verses (though that can be a beautiful practice). It’s about surrounding yourself with God’s Word in ways that gently remind and encourage you throughout your day.
Spend Time With Friends You Can Be Real With
"And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:24-25
Faith grows best in community. Whether it’s a small group, Bible study, or even just two trusted friends who love Jesus, find people you can talk with, pray with, and learn alongside.
God often meets us through the presence of others.
And sometimes, being known by someone else reminds us that we’re deeply known by Him.
Remember, God is Always Near
One of the most comforting truths is that God never leaves our side, even when we feel distant from Him.
Sometimes life’s challenges, doubts, or pain can make us feel far away, but God’s presence remains constant and unchanging.
It’s never too late to take steps toward Him. Every small move you make, whether it’s reading a verse, praying a quick prayer, or simply opening your heart, draws you closer to His love and peace.
No matter where you are, God is ready to meet you there.

You don’t have to do everything at once. Just start with one thing. Let that one small “yes” turn into a rhythm, a habit, and ultimately a deeper relationship.
God’s not waiting for you to get it all right; He’s simply waiting for you.
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” James 4:8
